Division of Coastal Management:
The Division of Coastal Management or DCM is often referred to as CAMA. DCM works to protect, conserve and manage North Carolina's coastal resources through planning, permitting, education and research.
DCM carries out the state's Coastal Area Management Acts and Laws, using rules and policies of the N.C. Coastal Resources Commission, known as the CRC.

DCM is responsible for several programs that affect local property owners, including:
- permitting and enforcement
- CAMA land-use planning
- public beach and waterfront access

If you plan on building a dock, Installing a bulkhead, excavation, grading, or any construction within the AEC, you will need a CAMA permit. RH&Co. will be happy to assist any customers through the CAMA permitting process.

US Army Corps of Engineers
The USACE provide such services as maintaining waterway navigation, reducing the damage from flooding, Dredging, Beach renurishment, protecting our shore communities from the effects of hurricanes, and responding to our nation's disasters. Because much of Carteret and Craven county Real Estate is located on the water, the USACE has a significant impact on property owners.
